This special visit is designed for Educa participants who want to experience everyday school life in Finland. During the visit, you will observe real classroom learning, explore a modern public school, and meet Finnish teachers.
What you’ll experience?
You will visit a Finnish comprehensive school that includes both primary education (grades 1–6) and lower secondary education (grades 7–9).
You will step into classrooms, see how learning takes place in everyday situations, and discuss teaching methods, practices, and daily realities directly with Finnish teachers.
The visit also includes a guided tour of the school’s learning environments, which reflect Finland’s pedagogical approach. You will enjoy a Finnish school lunch, known for being nutritious, balanced, and free for every child.

How does the visit day look like?

Who hosts the visit?
The visit is hosted by Heljä Misukka, an education expert with extensive experience in the Finnish education system.
Her roles include:
- Director of Educational Policy at the Trade Union of Education in Finland (2011–2022)
- Permanent Secretary to the Minister of Education (2007–2011)
- Board Member of the Finnish National Agency for Education (2015–2022)

What is EDUCA?
EDUCA is Finland’s leading event for the education and training sector, which for the fourth time offers international education and training professionals a topical and high-quality programme in English addressing global education challenges and highlighting aspects of the Finnish educational system. The programme is free of charge to visitors. The international programme is implemented in co-operation with the Trade Union of Education in Finland (OAJ), the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture, Finnish National Agency for Education EDUFI and Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre. January 29-30,2027 in Helsinki, Finland.
For EDUCA visitors, we offer on Friday, JAN 29th, the opportunity to turn theory into practice and get a glimpse into a Finnish school through a half-day EDUCA school visit.
What is included in the EDUCA School Visit?
✔ Half-day visit to a Finnish school – You spend approx. 3–4 hours at a local school in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area, observing everyday lessons and school life.
✔ Professional host/guide – You are accompanied by a VisitEDUfinn host throughout the visit who provides insights into the Finnish education system and supports you during your programme.
✔ Transportation during the visit – Transport to and from the school from the meeting point is included on the visit day.
✔ Classroom observations and discussions – You observe teaching and learning and have time to discuss practices with Finnish teachers.

Can I participate alone?
Yes, you can join a school visit either on your own or with your colleague(s). For the EDUCA school visit, we can take up to 20 participants in total. If you are travelling with a big group, ask for a tailored school visit for your group only. Group visits follow the same half-day schedule, but you can also ask for a quote for a longer study tour.

What should we do if we need to cancel our participation?
All cancellations should be made by email. Whenever possible, we work together with you to find an alternative date for the visit.
